Projects:

  • TL-5 Barrier Crash Test ( $350,000.00)
    TemCorp jointly with Ryerson University performed a successful crash test on barrier wall type PL3, in accordance with MASH Test Level 5 (TL-5) and the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC). The test took place in Texas A&M Transportation Institute. The crash test involved a 36000kg tractor trailer impacting the barrier at a nominal speed of 80 km/h at a 15º angle. The barrier wall was designed using TemBar 180° hooks and straight bars.
  • TL-5 Barrier Crash Test: Dynamic finite elements simulations using LS-DYNA software
    Computer-based crash simulation provides an upfront crashworthiness assessment and is less expensive than going through multiple prototype physical crash testing cycles with iterative design changes. Computer-based crash simulation will assist in reaching an optimum design that can then be physically crash-tested to meet the code requirement to certify a product for use in practice. The finite element model considers different parameters such as truck speed, angle of impact, any shape/configuration of the barrier-deck system, and different material models, including concrete, steel, and GFRP reinforcing bars. Our team can also extend the model to other bridge and highway safety features, including other Test-Level concrete barriers, noise barriers, barriers over mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) retaining walls, beam-post railings.
